Enjoy the dazzling color of a color ink cartridge.Sure, you’ve held onto that black-and-white-only printer through your last three computer systems and it does still work just fine. Most of the time. But computers are really cool so why not add a little pizzazz to your computing life! With the addition of a color ink cartridge or three, your staid, dull, and predictable friend, old “BW” there, will get to mingle with a new, lively, and exciting crowd of printing projects. Yes, you’ll need a new printer but color inkjet printers are very inexpensive and they’re very easy to find, too. Your nearest office supply, price club, or all-inclusive big box store will most likely have several to choose from.Color ink cartridge technology varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and even from printer to printer within any one company’s product line. The supplies that feed these printers vary accordingly. It is vital to remember to always buy supplies made by the same company that made your printer and always buy only the model / part numbers designated in the packaging materials that your printer came in.Some color inkjet printers use only one color ink cartridge to print in full color. These single cartridges have three “pockets” that holds each of the primary colors (red, yellow, and blue). During printing, the colors are blended together electronically and with any black ink required for the printing job. This type color ink cartridge is relatively inexpensive, often small, and needs to be replaced often. An endless combination of all three primary colors can create any color desired but the absence of any one primary color will cause your printer to not work. Some printers will continue to print although the color will be “off” and some printers simply won’t work at all until the cartridge is replaced. For some people, it just makes more sense to purchase a color printer that uses a different color ink cartridge for each of the primary colors. The ink supply is usually larger than what’s found in a color combo cartridge and you can replace only the color you need to, one color at a time. The ability to change only one color at a time is more expensive when comparing the price of one type cartridge to the other but will prove itself invaluable for anyone who frequently uses the same color combination(s) such as when typing company logos, letterhead, labels, etc.Either way, isn’t it time that faithful old black-and-white-only printer retired?
