Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do I use the 4 in 1 labeling device?Take a look at this pdf document (4-in-1 Applicator Help) for an overview, the main thing is you do not need all the parts, the square edge pieces are used for the business card size discs, if you are only doing Minis or Full size discs these are not used. My PRO LABEL Software does not load, what can I do? Our PRO-LABELING Labeling software is Quicktime based program, (it uses Quicktime as the engine -this is why it will also work with Mac’s) you will have to have the Quicktime program installed on your system in order for this program to run – usually the disc will install the Quicktime for you but a few customers have had troubles with the install. If you are having trouble installing the program all you have to do is go to http://www.quicktime.com and install the “Quicktime” program. Lastly go to the CD and do an explore and double-click the prolabel.exe file this will run the file from the CD, or if you like you can install to your Hard Drive, all you do is copy over the two “Prolabel” files from the disc they are “Prolabel.exe” and “Prolabel.art”. What does “Stand-Alone” mean on the Accutower duplication towers? No computer is required to make copies of DVDs or CDs. Plug it in, power it on, insert source DVD or CD and blank media, select “Copy”, push “GO” and the Accutower starts the copy process. The 1 to 1 CD duplicator we sell has a USB connection so the recorder can be used as an external device – you can only use it as the standalone duplicator or with the computer via USB – one at a time not both. Can the DVD Accutowers also duplicate CDRs? Yes the DVD Towers can all copy CDRs as well. Is the speed of the CDR media important when copying with Accutower duplication machines? For copying CDs, use any CD media that is certified for the speed at which you would like to write. Copy quality can be compromised if the copy speed selected is higher than the certification of the media. For copying DVDs at 4x, you need 4x certified media. If the media is not 4x, then the duplicator will copy at the speed of the media. What blank media can be used in the CD and DVD Accutowers? All of the CDRs and DVDRs we sell can be used in our towers, drives, and autoloading duplicators as well as other high quality name brand media available. The Accutowers do not require special media for copy jobs. When making copies at any speed, media appropriately certified for that speed or greater should be used. USDM Professional Duplicator Grade Certified media or equivalent is recommended for best results. Where can I get help for my EZ CD Printer? Your request for assistant with your EZCD Printer is just a quick step away at the manufacturer’s web site. Please go to the link below and fill in the short form. A manufacturer representative will respond to you with information, generally within 24 hours from your request. How do you make DVD copies? You load a source DVD in the DVD-ROM reader. Load as many blanks as you need in the DVD Recorders (up to 3 in Accutower 304R and on up to 9 in our Accutower 904 DVD Tower ). Select “Copy”; push “GO” and copying starts with no further action. Or, you can set a variety of parameters and options through the menu on the LCD display changing read speed, write speed, verifying source DVDs and much more. Please note, the DVD Accutowers will not duplicate copy-protected materials such as commercial DVD movies. Can I connect the Accutower to my PC or Mac? No, the Accutower is designed as a stand-alone duplicator and the internal mechanisms are not designed to be connected to your computer externally. No computer is required to make copies of DVDs or CDs. The 1 to 1 CD duplicator we sell does has a USB connection so the recorder can be used as an external device – you can only use it as the standalone duplicator or with the computer via USB – one at a time not both. Can I copy DVD movies with the Accutower DVD Towers? No, commercial movies are copy protected and cannot be copied with the DVD Accutower . Most DVDs are copy protected in one way or another, mainly by CSS encryption or Macrovision. Even if you could get around this, a pressed DVD can hold up to around 20 GB of data and video. Your DVD-R only holds 4.7 GB. And you’d have to re-author the video anyway. However, you can copy your own DVDR Backups or Video creations. Can I copy DVDs to CD or vise-versa in a DVD or CD Accutower? No, DVDs will only copy to blank DVD Media, and CDs will only copy to CDs. Why is the DVD write speed only up to 8x? DVD “x” speeds are almost 10 times faster than CD “x” speeds. The DVD Accutowers use 4X up to 8x DVD recording technology, which is the fastest available. (4x DVD equates to 5.54MB/sec transfer rate. 40x CD equates to 6.0MB/sec.) The DVD Accutower is based on DVD-R/RW recording technology, can I copy discs created on DVD+-RW drives? Generally, yes. It is usually NOT recommended to use a ReWritable disc as a master because they are usually harder to read than a write once disc. As with all optical disc duplicating, there are discs that will not copy for a variety of reasons, for example copy protection, quality of the source disc, etc. Can I make just one copy, or do I have to fully load all of the recorders in the Accutowers. Yes, you can make as many copies as you need. Just load as many blanks as your duplication job requires, starting with one. The Accutowers will copy to the number of blank discs it sees and ignores the recorders that do not contain blank media. If the tower is loaded fully it will start automatically. If the Accutower comes equipped with a Hard Drive and since the unit cannot be connected to a computer, does the Hard Drive allow the tower to perform other functions? Yes, the Accutower can be used to make custom audio CD compilations with the “Edit Track” feature. This track-selecting function can combine tracks from different audio CDs into a single audio CD. You can extract specific tracks from your source CD to create your own compilation discs. The Hard Drive also can store your master images for quick recording later. What copy speeds does the DVD Accutower copy? With the setup options you can choose the DVD Duplicating speed from 8x, 4x, 2x, and 1x depending on the model purchased. Most of the time the speed is set to ‘automatic’ to record at the proper speed of the media. The speed of the DVD Accutower is 4x, how fast will it copy DVDs? A DVD Accutower 704R can make up to 7 copies of a typical 4.7GB DVD in about 15 minutes. The actual time to copy the information from a source DVD to up to 7 DVD-R blank discs, start to finish, will vary due to the quality of the discs being used, write process initialization tests by the duplicator controller, writing lead in/lead out information, etc. Of course the new 8x towers will copy little faster at about 9 minutes. If the duplicator is having trouble reading a DVD, what can be done? The first step to test the master disc and the reading / writing speeds. If you are still having trouble, you can place the source disc in any of the DVD Recorders and try to read it. Any drive can be selected as the source drive using the “Rom drive” option in the setup area. Or copy to the Hard Drive if you have one installed. How much storage capacity on a Business Card CD-R ? Business Card CD-R media will usually handle about 50MB of data. 50MB is more than enough for most PowerPoint presentations, brochures, catalogs, etc. including pictures. The mini discs hold more at around 180MB. What is the best way to make moderate to high volume runs of Business Card CDs?Our duplicating services are always available to take over your larger or quick turn duplication jobs. However, if you want overall economy and total control over costs, schedules and quantities, we recommend one of the Accutower duplicators. What equipment can play the Business Card CDs?Business card CDRs can be played back on any computer or Laptop that has a standard, tray load, CD-ROM player (NOT the slot type players). Most people do not have a problem with playing business card media; the rectangular cards can be a little noisier that the rounded edge cards, and the minis spin the best.
